Plastic in our oceans
By Hayley HB
Plastic in our oceans can harm marine animals. It is a huge problem. Plastic is a problem because all plastics are toxic. Once it is in the ocean marine animals think it is food, eat it and then die.
What does rubbish do to animals?
Sea Turtles, Seals and Sea Lions, Seabirds, Fish, Whales and dolphins.
.
Polar bears
Because polar bears sit at the top of the food chain, their intake of toxins may be particularly magnified, according to the IUCN.
Seabirds, land animals and marine animals eat plastic because they think it is food then die. Once they start to rot away you can see what they have eaten. If other birds see it they will eat what was out of the other birds. Whales eat little plankton, krill and squid. It will think bottle cap lids and eat it.
Conclusion
In conclusion, it is important that people think about what they do with rubbish. Everyone can help save marine animals as well as the sea. Packaging should not be plastic so that any animals don’t hurt.
If everyone does this no more animals would be hurt or harmed.
Great piece of writing I am learning about the plastic in the ocean and how polluted the ocean is.Keep it up your doing great.

ReplyDeleteKia Ora Hayley,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Hazel, and I will be one of the people blogging with you this summer for the Summer Learning Journey.
I was very impressed by your report about the impact plastic has on our planet. We should all be mindful of what we do with our rubbish, and try to recycle as much as possible. I could tell that you have done a lot of research about your topic, and thought hard about what people can do to help.
We are very excited that you've registered for the Summer Learning Journey with us. I know it can sometimes be tricky to get started. I have included a link to the week one activities, but remember, you can do them in any order! Check out the activities on our website, and then post your responses to the activities here on your blog site.
